American Libraries Live will be hosting a webinar called The Present and Future of Ebooks on April 18th from 2 to 3 pm Eastern. The leader of the discussion will be Sue Polanka who hosts a blog called No Shelf Required, dedicated to the topic of ebooks. Ebooks are currently a thorn in the side of many at McGill University, where we grapple with how best to serve users via a medium that is fraught with problems such as single user licenses/digital rights management (DRM), technological/registration hurdles, and in some cases lack of an option to download ebooks for offline access (this isn’t even touching the fact that many of our ebooks remain uncatalogued and therefore incredibly difficult to find, even for librarians). The session is apparently free. Follow this link for more information.
